In honor of Thanksgiving (insert cheeky post now), here are just a few things I am thankful for..
- Little, quiet Moments
- Coffee and Tea warming you up when you’re cold
- Sunrises after a cold night
- My Best Friend Alex
- Invention of Facetime so I can see Alex even though we are states apart
- Smiling, giggling babies
- Warm, cozy homes
- People who are brave enough to open up their lives to others
- Music that captures your emotions perfectly
- Crackling fireplaces & cozy blanket
Hope you all have a happy thanksgiving!
Happy Birthday to me! Officially twenty-four now (as of Sunday) and feeling pretty much the same as I did Saturday night at 23. Though I must say, Saturday I did something I thought I wouldn’t be able to do for years…I signed a lease to my new car! While I will not get it until mid-December, I’m still nervously excited!
I have had anxiety since middle school. Back then, it manifested slowly – the occasional nerves, clammy palms. By the time high school hit, it was my new permanent companion.
Has my anxiety kept me back from doing things in life? Yes, unfortunately. Do I wish this was the case? No. Will this always be this way? Absolutely….NOT.
I know I’m stronger than it! Bust I also know it might not be something that will ever vanish, and I’m okay with that. It has shaped me into the person I am today. But I want to be able to accept and work on controlling it. If I get anxious, then that’s okay. It will happen. I just have to tell myself: “If an anxiety attack happens, there’s nothing I can do about it in that moment. Take a breathe, keep going, and get through it. Maybe everything didn’t go as planned. Maybe it could have been better. But did I do it? Yes. And that’s progress.” It’s a constant mental battle to tell yourself to be stronger than well…yourself.
Do you ever have one of those “Grand Plans” days? You know the one where you tell yourself you are going to accomplish all those items on your to-do list that you’ve been putting off. But then when the day actually presents itself, nothing happens…sound familiar to any one? Well, I had one of those “Grand Plans” days a short while ago.
Recently, I was inspired by the Freedom Experiment. Marthe’s Feeling Good when Life is Hard speaks of creating a Love List. “Basically the Love List is a list of things that make you happy. It includes things you’re inspired by and things that make you feel good. There are no rules for this list – nothing is too simple and nothing is too complicated. If you are attracted by it – or love it – add it to the list.” (p.19)
While reading this, I decided to start creating my own list and adding to it as life progresses. (Subscribe at the top and receive a free copy of ‘Feeling Good when Life is Hard’….no seriously, do it! The book is amazing, all the site’s posts are amazing. Everything is worth quoting & Marthe is truly inspirational.)
P.S. Sorry in advance if anything gets duplicated..but it only means I truly love it!!
